NOTD | Zoya Storm

Storm is a black creme with holographic microglitter. This is one of my favorite polishes ever. The black is profoundly black, not greenish or greyish, and the holographic effect is visible in all lighting.

NOTD | Taupe Me Off by Sinful Colors

Taupe It Off is from Sinful Colors’ Tough Love collection (currently available). It is a matte greige with silver microglitter.

I also tried it out with topcoat (Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat). It looked okay with topcoat, but it was more distinctive in its original “leather” finish.

NOTD | Face The Facets by Sinful Colors

Last night, I changed my laptop’s desktop theme to fresh fruit, and the first image to cycle through was lemon slices. The looked so fresh, I decided to do yellow nails. And that was perfect because I had this beauty waiting to be worn for the first time. Face the Facets (Crystal Crushes collection, 2013, still available in stores) is a yellow textured polish with gold glitter.

# of coats: 3 for full opacity, but would have been fine with 2

Removal: Easy with acetone and cotton pads

NOTD | Sexy In Sequins by L’Oreal

Sexy In Sequins is a sparkling, textured polish from L’Oreal’s Gold Dust collection (2013, still in stores). In the bottle, you can see red, gold, and larger purple glitter equally prominent in the semi-sheer black base, but on the nail, purple prevails in most lights (though not in the photos, go figure).

Here’s the polish with its matte glitter finish (no topcoat):

Removal: Average with acetone and cotton pads, no foil
Staining: Only a bit at the cuticles; I recommend keeping it away from them

NOTD | Teal & Silver Mix & Match

I sat down with three colors and made it up as I went along. I used Silver Sweep by Sally Hansen Insta-Dri (smooth chrome silver), Opening Night by Sinful Colors (dark teal frost), and Peacock Portrait by Finger Paints (silver holographic glitter mixed with larger dark teal glitter).

NOTD | La La Ladybug

Shiny red nails always make me happy, and adding ladybugs just makes it better. The base color is Cross My Heart by Sinful Colors, a high-shine orange-red jelly. I used Kiss stripers in Black and White for the ladybug details.

NOTD | Nude Sparkle

This look is a flattering glitter gradient mani, inspired by YouTube user, szuchnic. Here is her tutorial for the look.

I chose Parlez Vous Francais by Ulta, a sheer warm beige with incredible smoothness and shine, as the base color. I covered it with Holographic Topcoat by Nina and used a larger golden hologrphic polish, Starry Night by Ulta, on the tips. Here’s my look:

NOTD | New Year’s Eve Blue Sparkle

This look is a cross between a half-moon and a glitterfall. The main color, Dream by Zoya, is a gorgeous royal blue with holographic microglitter. I also used a chrome silver (Silver Sweep by Sally Hansen Insta-Dri), a medium-sized silver holographic glitter (Colorful Collage by Finger Paints), and a large silver holographic glitter (I Snow You Love Me by OPI).

# of coats: 1 coat Silver Sweep, 2 coats Dream, 2 coats Colorful Collage, I Snow You Love Me glitters placed individually
Topcoat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
Removal: Normal with acetone, cotton pads, and aluminum foil (necessary for removing the glitters)
Staining: Yes, even though Silver Sweep was applied on the entire nail under Dream
